Interesting time for the McCanns, to announce they are about to go on vacation.
Having only just declined to go to Portugal to participate in a police reconstruction of the night Maddie went missing, the McCanns seen at right, are likely to face a brief media firestorm with the announcement that they're going to take a vacation.
Although the location hasn't been decided, family spokesman Clarence Mitchell with his normal sledgehammer wit, couldn't resist taking another shot at his nemesis over in Portugal. Mitchell told journalists, "Nothing has been booked yet, but one thing's certain – they won't be going to Portugal"
Only last week it was reported for the first time in the British media that the McCanns are currently being investigated for possible charges of negligence which could land them in a Portuguese prison for up to 10 years. Maybe Mitchell forgot to add they probably wont be going on vacation to any country that has an extradition treaty with Portugal.The fact that the McCanns are trying to justify their vacation plans by saying they are doing it for the sake of their other children is sure to be greeted by healthy skepticism. The last time Oxy Moran heard a 2 year old child demand a vacation was er....never.
A different narrative might have been to state that with Gerry's 40th birthday this week, the couple decided they want to work on their suntans, preferably without the kids, but old Clarry was quick to veto that PR disaster waiting to happen.
As to whether the couple will be allowed to get away without a law enforcement tail remains to be seen. But Oxy Moran's money would be on some lucky cops getting to spend a couple of weeks working as lifeguards, waiters and housekeeping personnel where-ever Air McCann makes it final destination this summer.
The parents of Madeleine McCann are to go on their first holiday together since she was kidnapped in Portugal just over a year ago, according to reports.
Kate and Gerry McCann, who are both 40, decided to take the break for the sake of their other children, twins Sean and Amelie, who are two, according to a family friend.
Madeleine was abducted from the family's apartment in the coastal resort of Praia da Luz, on the Algarve in Portugal, last May.
The couple's spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: "It will be incredibly painful to contemplate going away without Madeleine but this is the reality they are faced with.
"Nothing has been booked yet, but one thing's certain – they won't be going to Portugal."
The family have spent only an occasional few days away from their home in Rothley, Leics, since returning from the Algarve on September 9, after Portuguese police made them official suspects.
A friend of the family told the Daily Mirror: "Everyone needs a holiday – Kate and Gerry included.
"It's now 14 months since Madeleine was taken. Behind the scenes, there remains a lot of action to try and find her, but for Kate and Gerry life has returned as close to normality as they're likely to get.
"After all they've been through, they want to give the twins a decent break to try and enjoy time as a family."

A family of four will doubtless have a great deal of luggage and I would think he has had a great deal of practice these past 9 months carrying their bags.Or maybe Nanny/actress wannabee, the alluring Charlotte Pennington seen at left, will come back on stage to take care of all the family's domestic needs. Or maybe both to keep it a nice even number of vacationers, which is usually helpful for obtaining reservations at restaurants and other establishments where food and drink is sold.
